For the first time, a majority of U.S. adults are single. 

In 1976 [38 years ago], the earliest comparable statistic available, 37 percent of adults were single. 

In interviews with more than 300 people living alone for his 2012 book "Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone," sociologist Eric Klinenberg found many older singles, especially women, were just as happy and more social than married peers.

Reports arriving from southern Kandahar province say that a martyrdom attack has killed the police chief (Commander Manaf) of Arghastan district. 

The attack took place last night when the hero of Islamic Emirate (Mullah Mustafa) detonated his explosives belt as the enemy had gathered inside the district HQ building to eat dinner. 

The successful operation eliminated the target along with 10 of his men and wounded 8 other puppets. 

The said person [Manaf] 

used to launch operations against Mujahideen in Arghastan, Ma'ruf, Registan, Daman and Zabul's Shahr-e-Safa district and 

was notorious for his brutality and mistreatment of locals. 

He was also. . .considered the right hand man of the infamous Kandahar police chief, Commander Razziq, and was very close to American invaders. 

Emirate] Officials say that the enemy retaliated after the blast by shelling Shingazi village with mortars from which an innocent girl was martyred 

Mujahideen then targeted the district HQ building with Dshck heavy machine gun fire, damaging the towers and an AA gun as well as wounding a gunman.

Four Peruvian anti-logging activists murdered [Excerpts] 

Four Peruvian tribal leaders have been killed on their way to a meeting to discuss ways to stop illegal logging. 

The men from the Ashaninka community were attempting to travel to Brazil [near Saweto on the border with Brazil] when they were murdered.
