EU'S UNITED FRONT ON RUSSIA FALLING AMID GAS NEEDS [Excerpts]

Adding to the skein of Russian pipelines already ending in Europe, South Stream would go through

Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria and Italy in one leg and

Croatia, Macedonia, Greece and Turkey in a second.

. . .Austria, Hungary, and Serbia —-the first two EU members, the third a candidate to join—- have said they will build their sections of the project and others may follow, to the displeasure of the EU [NATO] and United States [The World Tyrant].

In the wake of Austria's decision last month, Washington [The World Tyrant] urged it to "consider carefully" whether that contributed to "discouraging further Russian aggression."

Moscow [The New Russian Empire] says such arguments by the U.S. [The World Tyrant] are driven by business concerns.  In Vienna recently to lobby for Austrian support for South Stream, Russian President Vladimir Putin said "our American friends. . .want to supply Europe with gas themselves."

WHY NUKES KEEP FINDING TROUBLE: THEY'RE REALLY OLD [Excerpts]

The nuclear missiles hidden in plain view across the prairies of northwest North Dakota reveal one reason why trouble keeps finding the nuclear Air Force.  The "Big Sticks," as some call the 60-foot-tall Minuteman 3 missiles, are just plain old.

The Air Force asserts with pride that the missile system, *more* than 40 years old and designed during the Cold War to counter the now-defunct Soviet Union, is safe and secure.  None has ever been used in combat or launched accidentally.

But it also admits to fraying at the edges: time-worn command posts, corroded launch silos, failing support equipment and an emergency-response helicopter fleet so antiquated that a replacement was deemed "critical" years ago.
